Nag Ashwin reveals the major difference between Kalki and Hollywood sci-fi movies

The makers of pan-India stars Prabhas and Deepika Padukone’s highly-anticipated sci-fi thriller, Kalki 2898 AD, announced the movie’s title at the San Diego Comic-Con in July and created a huge buzz worldwide. And yesterday, Kalki’s team made a splash at the IIT Bombay Techfest by displaying some specially curated content.

Speaking on the sidelines of the Techfest, Kalki 2898 AD’s director Nag Ashwin opened up about the comparisons between his film and the Hollywood sci-fi movies. Nag Ashwin revealed that Kalki 2898 AD is the first true sci-fi film to be ever made in Indian cinema. “Kalki is a different film. The story is set in a totally new world. We have seen how Hollywood portrayed their futuristic cities. In Kalki 2898 AD, audiences will witness how Indian cities will look in future. The film has a strong Indian connect,” the director revealed.

Also starring the two legends of Indian Cinema, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani in key roles, Kalki 2898 AD is being produced by veteran producer Ashwini Dutt on Vyjayanthi Movies banner. The film’s theatrical trailer could be expected in 93 days, which means either March 31 or April 1, 2024.
