Dangal fails to match Baahubali Records

Aamir Khan's much-awaited Hindi movie Dangal has opened to good response at the box office, but the film has failed to beat the collection records of Baahubali: The Beginning.

The film, which released on Friday (23 Dec), opened to favourable reviews from the audiences. Based on the real-life story of Haryanvi wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat and his struggle to train his daughters Babita Kumari and Geeta Phogat to make them world-class wrestlers, Dangal has been performing brilliantly at the box office. The film however failed to match the Day 1 to Day 3 collection record set by Baahubali.

Dangal made a total three day collection of about 106.95 crores (Incl. Tamil & Telugu versions) - Fri 29.78 cr, Sat 34.82 cr, Sun 42.35 cr. Compare this to Baahubali's First day collection of 50.1 crore worldwide gross and 37.1 crores in Indian biz.

Though the US collections were also supposed to break the first day records set by Baahubali ($1,010,550) and PK ($ 1 million), the movie made a first day collection of just $282,280. While the total three day collection of Dangal is about 106.95 crores, it should also be noted that Baahubali made about 110 crores in just two days and became the fastest movie to reach the 100 crore mark.

Seems like Baahubali records can be broken only by Baahubali himself!
