Had written Salaar even before KGF: Prashanth Neel

Rebel star Prabhas-starrer Salaar is one of the hotly awaited films of the year. While it has already been delayed multiple times due to various reasons, the excitement surrounding the film is palpable as it nears the release date of December 22. The fact that it’s a mass action entertainer and features Prabhas in a larger-than-life role that his fans would enjoy to see him means that anticipation surrounding it is sky-high.

Now, opening up about the film for the first time, film’s writer-director Prashanth Neel said Salaar narrates “the story of two friends who become the biggest enemies”. “Friendship is the core emotion of Salaar. We are telling half the story in Salaar: Part One: Cease Fire. We are going to show this journey of friends over the course of two films. The audience will get a glimpse of the world that we have created in the Salaar trailer, which drops on December 1,” the director told pinkvilla.com recently.

Prashanth added that he conceived Salaar as a two-part film from the beginning. “KGF was not a two part saga, but Salaar is. The story is so big that it could make up for a proper six-hour film. There is enough content for the second part and the audience too will feel the same when they watch Salaar: Part One. It’s a pure story driven film. In-fact, I had written Salaar even before I started working on KGF.”

He clarified that Salaar has no similarities with KGF whatsoever. “Salaar is a world of its own, it has got its own emotion and characters. I hope people see Salaar for the story that it sets up. We have set the tone of Salaar from the first scene itself,” he noted.
To a question on when he would take Salaar 2 on the floors, the director replied it boils down to logistics.
