Baahubali (Tamil) wins Seven Awards at IIFA Uthsavam

The first edition of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Utsavam awards function has began at Gachibowli in Hyderabad on Sunday morning, and the who's who of the South Indian film industry are attending this colourful event. 

On its opening day, the organisers of IIFA Utsavam 2016 honoured talents from Tamil and Malayalam film industries. 

Darling's 'Baahubali - The Beginning' in the direction of SS Rajamouli has bagged seven coveted awards and topped the Tamil Winners list of IIFA Utsavam 2016 awards. The Movie was adjudged the 'Best Tamil Film' of the year. S.S.Rajamouli won the 'Best Director' Award and Sathyaraj and Ramya Krishnan won the awards for 'Best Supporting Actor' and 'Best Supporting Actress' respectively. Haricharan and Geeta Madhuri won both the awards for 'Best Playback Singer' and Sabu Cyril won the award for Best Production Design. 

Baahubali being a bilingual in Telugu & Tamil was able to win the coveted awards for Tamil Films. However, since the Malayalam version was only a dubbed movie, the movie couldn't contest in the Malayalam film categories. More awards for Baahubali are expected as the Telugu film Awrds will be announced today.
