Kalki 2898 AD enters Rs 1,000 Cr club; Eyes all-time top 5 finish

And finally, Kalki 2898 AD, the blockbuster sci-fi drama starring Prabhas and Deepika Padukone in lead roles, has entered the Rs 1,000 crore club today. Released on June 27, the film took just 15 days to achieve this humongous feat.

Currently, Kalki stands in the seventh position in the list of all-time highest grossing Indian movies. The Nag Ashwin directorial will comfortably surpass Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathan (Rs 1,050 Cr) and Jawan (Rs 1,150 Cr) in the coming days and find its place in the top five highest grossers. However, whether or not the film can surpass KGF Chapter 2 (Rs 1,250 Cr) remains to be seen.

Kalki 2898 AD has grossed close to $17 million across North America and emerged as the all-time second highest grossing South Indian movie in the region after Baahubali The Conclusion ($22M). The film will surely beat Pathaan’s lifetime collection ($17.5M) to emerge as the 2nd highest grossing Indian movie in North America.

Kalki, also starring Indian cinema legends Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan, Sobhana, Disha Patani, Anna Ben, Pasupathy, and several other popular Indian stars in key roles, is produced by veteran filmmaker Ashwini Dutt. Santhosh Narayanan is the film’s music composer.
