Salient features of Bujji, the futuristic car from Kalki 2898 AD

The makers of Kalki 2898 AD on Wednesday at Ramoji Film City unveiled Bujji, a swanky futuristic vehicle which leading man Prabhas uses in the film, to the public. Autocar, which is the world’s leading motoring magazine and website, did a feature on Bujji and listed out some of its features.

The crazy details include the tyre size–it is literally the height of the shoulder of a person (the rim size is 34.5 inch). And as you go round the side, you will see hub-less tyres, which require a great level of engineering. The outer rim has bearings and that’s how the tyres function. It has a canopy that's been specially designed. The tyres have been specially created by CEAT. The car was made in tandem with Mahindra and Jayam Motors in Coimbatore. And if you’re wondering why it’s painted the way it is, it’s because it’s supposed to be dystopian and from the future.

In the movie, Prabhas’ character builds the car with his hands. The rear has a chamber where the character actually puts his prisoners. The rear also has a single tyre. It’s a sphere which kind of moves in any direction in the movie.

Featuring an eclectic cast comprising Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, Deepika Padukone and Disha Patani, Kalki 2898 AD is written and directed by Nag Ashwin, while Vyjayanthi Movies has produced it. A multilingual, mythology-inspired sci-fi spectacle set in the future, the film blazes into cinema halls on June 27, 2024.
