Baahubali Grosses Rs 401 Crore in 15 Days


SS Rajamouli's magnum opus "Baahubali - the Beginning" (Bahubali) continued its dream run on its third Friday and grossed over Rs 400 crore at the worldwide box office in 15 days. 

"Baahubali - the Beginning", which released in over 4,200 screens around the world on 10 July, opened to an overwhelming response and collected Rs 255 crore at the worldwide box office in the first week. The movie clashed with "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" and "Maari" and witnessed around 40% drop in its business. In its second week, the film added approximately Rs 136 crore to its 14-day global total, Rs 391 crore gross. In its third week, 

"Baahubali - the Beginning" lost out some of its screens to new Telugu releases "James Bond", "Demonte Colony", "Jilla" and "Sahasam Seyyara Dimbaka". But, its business remained intact with the film becoming the first choice for many film-goers across the globe on its third Friday. 

The Prabhas-Rana Daggubati starrer registered an average of 70% occupancy in the existing number of cinema halls across the globe. The film was seen running with packed houses in many centers in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Its Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam versions have also received very good response. When compared to its second Friday, it witnessed around 40% on its 15th day. 

As per early estimates, "Baahubali - the Beginning" grossed Rs 10 crore at the worldwide box office on its third Friday. With this, the movie has grossed Rs 401 crore in the global market in 15 days. Its approximate nett collection stands at Rs 282 crore. The film has earned more than Rs 100 crore for its distributors. 

Ever since its release, "Baahubali - the Beginning" has been on record-breaking spree. The film has beaten the lifetime collection records of all South Indian movies in 10 days. The movie has become the highest grosser Indian film of 2015, beating the previous record of "Tanu Weds Manu Returns". 

In its second week, "Baahubali - the Beginning" also shattered the lifetime business records of Bollywood blockbusters like "3 Idiots", "Happy New Year", "Kick" and "Krrish 3". 

The movie has become the fourth all-time highest grosser Indian film. In its third week, the film reached third place, pushing down Shah Rukh Khan's "Chennai Express" to the fourth spot.
