Attention everyone, the trailer of Salaar that everyone’s been waiting for is here and it promises to be an adrenaline-filled action ride adorned with Anbariv’s larger-than-life stunts and Prashanth Neel’s opulent vision.
Running close to four minutes in length, the trailer opens with a teen Deva promising a future lord of a kingdom Varadha Raja Munnar that he will be both bait and a shark should the need arise for his friend. “I will come back to Khansaar whenever you need me,” Deva tells his friend before disappearing. The setting is the city of Khansaar, which has the history of being ruled by dacoits. Raja Mannar (played by Jagapathi Babu) dreams of his son Varadha Raja Mannar (Prithviraj Sukumaran) taking over Khansaar empire once he vacates the chair, while there are forces who are plotting to kill Varadha to get hold of the empire. The forces employ armies from other countries and manage to bring Varadha to his knees. Left with option, he remembers the promise Deva made to him eons ago. As men around Varadha want to know how many men he is bringing to fight the forces, the answer seems to be a one-man army Deva (Prabhas). The trailer later fast forwards to a blood-soaked Deva killing Varadha’s enemies mercilessly as the latter looks forward to conquer whatever is in front of his eyes. It ends with Deva issuing a soft warning to his adversaries: “Please I kindly request.”
In conclusion, the trailer is magnificent and promises a no-holds barred action drama with violence and bloodshed, while friendship seems to be the central theme. While it has some traces of KGF as both the worlds are dark, it’s obvious that Prashanth is treading a different story, which has no connection with the cinematic universe people were talking about. Prabhas, looking million-bucks as Deva, is seen flexing his muscles while Prithviraj is appropriate as the crown prince-in-waiting.
Also starring Shruti Haasan, Easwari Rao, Bobby Simha, John Vijay, Ramachandra Raju, Mime Gopi and Sriya Reddy in key roles, Salaar Part 1 is scheduled to release on December 22 in Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi. KGF fame Ravi Basrur is the music composer.
