Here comes the biggest and most awaited update of the season. According to the ongoing buzz in Bollywood trade circles, actor Prabhas’ highly-anticipated pan-India gangster drama, Salaar, has sealed December 22 for its grand theatrical release. Apparently, Salaar distributors today informed the exhibitors across the country about the new release date.
If Salaar eventually makes it to the silver screens on December 22 as being speculated, fans and industrywallahs will be witnessing an epic box office clash between Salaar and Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s much-awaited drama, Dunki. Incidentally, Dunki makers had locked the same release date (Dec 22) a long time ago, and it remains to be seen how trade circles will handle this unexpected clash.
Interestingly, while the makers are yet to come up with a formal announcement on the release date, the film’s director Prashanth Neel’s wife Likitha Reddy Neel took to Instagram and posted a story in which she wrote, “December 2023 will never be the same (sic).”
Salaar was supposed to hit theaters on September 28 initially. However, the release was postponed due to an unexpected delay in the post-production work. Prithviraj Sukumaran, Shruti Haasan and Jagapathi Babu will also be seen in lead roles in this Hombale Films’ production. KGF fame Ravi Basrur has composed the music.
