Eight years ago, director Koratala Siva, production company UV Creations and actor Prabhas came together to give us Mirchi, an unforgettable movie experience which still feels fresh even after multiple rewatches. Records were shattered, reviews were rave and most importantly audiences loved every bit of Prabhas’ intensity as Jai.
Today UV Creations is one of the major production houses in Tollywood and are known for their excellent production values and also for backing amazing movies. But the journey for UV Creations began with Mirchi, which earned them recognition and respect in the industry. After Mirchi, UV Creations delivered hits like Run Raja Run, Bhale Bhale Magadivoy, Express Raja and Saaho.
Songs, acting, comedy, fights and elements to add mass appeal—Mirchi had everything required to make it a blockbuster. The scene right before the interval, which shows Prabhas pulling off his mask after saving his family from the goons, is still a moment which gives viewers goosebumps. The songs vary from soulful melodies like Pandagala, to the dance number Darlingey and are still a must have on any playlist or to play during a road trip.
Mirchi also ended up doing wonders for Prabhas’ on screen. Until Mirchi released Prabhas was known for his angry young man image on screen. However, after the release of Mirchi, directors and audiences realised Prabhas could pull off any kind of role with ease and with a style which is only unique to him. Prabhas stole the show with his acting, seamlessly switching from a guy in love to a man out for vengeance, from displaying intense anger, to pouring his heart out. The performances of Anushka Shetty, Richa Gangopadhyay, Nadhiya and Satya Raj deserve a special mention because they added depth to the story.
